the sustainability secret
My husband and I recently watched the documentary Cowspiracy and were blown away by what we learned. Becoming a vegetarian was a decision I made about three and a half years ago after watching the documentary Forks Over Knives. That movie was eye opening and made me pay more attention to the foods I was eating and their effects on my health. This documentary, Cowspiracy, made an even bigger impact as it goes beyond the individual consequences of eating meat and reveals the much greater global impact. The film speaks about how destructive animal agriculture is for our environment and backs up its statements with many credible sources of research. I have found a new reason to be vegetarian and it goes far beyond me and my health. By not eating animal products I can help preserve the environment and our precious natural resources for our current and future generations.
Did you know one hamburger takes 660 gallons of water to produce?! That is the equivalent of 2 months worth of showers. Each day, a person who eats a vegan diet saves 1,100 gallons of water, 45 pounds of grain, 30 sq ft of forested land, the equivalent of 20 lbs of CO2 , and one animal’s life. You can read more facts like this from Cowspiracy's site here.
