candied pecans + almonds
WARNING: these are highly addictive. Proceed at your own risk!
Have you ever gotten the flavored almonds from the farmers market or is that just a Carmel/Monterey thing? They are so delicious but very expensive! I decided I would try making them myself and I gotta say, these are just as good. These nuts are great as a snack, in a salad, or packaged up as a gift.
Ingredients:
- 1 egg white
- 1 tablespoon cold water
- 4 cups whole, unsalted nuts of your choice ( I did 2 cups almonds and 2 cups pecans)
- 1/2 cup coconut sugar (or regular sugar is fine)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 250º
- Beat egg white and water until frothy
- Add in nuts and mix together until they are all covered in egg
- Toss in sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt
- Stir until everything is coated
- Spread nuts in a single layer on a greased baking sheet
- Cook for 1 hour, stirring every 20 minutes or so
- Store in an airtight container
- Enjoy!
