diy peppermint lip scrub
Let's start some holiday DIYs, shall we? I'm a little behind this year (the holidays start tomorrow night with Hannukah!), been busy writing my thesis for school, but better late than never, right?!
This time of year my lips get extra dry. As the temps drop, my lips just need a little extra TLC. As I have mentioned before, I do put calendula ointment on my lips each night, which really does help heal and hold in some moisture but these colder months call for extra effort. This lip scrub is awesome. It feels and tastes so good and leaves my lips incredibly smooth. This would make a great stocking stuffer.
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon organic raw coconut oil
- 3 teaspoons organic coarse sugar
- 1 teaspoon honey (if vegan, agave would work well here as well)
- 5 drops essential oil*
*I used peppermint, so refreshing and a great smell for the holidays. I think orange would be wonderful as well.
How to:
Combine all ingredients (you may need to melt the coconut oil on the stove top or in the microwave) and place in a storage container of your choosing. The jar I used was actually a jam jar that I cleaned out and repurposed. I have purchased similar containers at Michaels.
I have read that this needs to be stored in the fridge. It is much more convenient for me to keep this in the shower and so that is what I have been doing. It may last longer in the fridge, but both ways are fine I believe.
